Henley Literary Festival

This year's Henley Literary Festival (Sept. 28 to Oct. 2) features two talks of particular interest to Waugh enthusiasts.

Selina Hastings (Fri. Sept. 30): "To write biographies of great writers is a task fraught with danger but Selina Hastings has become highly respected through her books on Nancy Mitford, Evelyn Waugh, Rosamond Lehmann and Somerset Maugham. Now she provides a fascinating insight into the world of Mitford and Waugh, who were not only brilliantly witty writers but also friends whose many letters are filled with malicious jokes and gossip."

Daisy Waugh (Sun. Oct. 2): "In a wonderful mix of fact and fiction Daisy proves that the Waugh writing tradition is alive and well. The daughter of Auberon and granddaughter of Evelyn, her latest book [Last Dance with Valentino] charts an unusual romance between Londoner Jenny Doyle and the greatest movie star of the day Rudolph Valentino."
